In the days following the terror attack in Manchester there was an overwhelming response from the public and colleagues to the incident.
Incoming calls to the National Contact Centre were nine times higher than the average forecast. Our donation sessions in the area were incredibly busy with donors keen to help in maintaining blood supplies to hospitals. The uplift in registrations against the average week was 1,180%.
Colleagues everywhere did a great job to support where possible. For example Transport drivers in Liverpool aided colleagues in Manchester with 21 deliveries, including 15 ‘blue lights’.
Greater Manchester Police kindly donated biscuits and chocolates to support with the amount of people attending sessions. The queues of donors outside Norfolk House were also provided with water by staff at the local Tesco next door. Donors also brought in flowers and snacks for the teams.
Thank you to everyone for your continued support and dedication.
