Congratulations to Stephen Bailey and Melissa Thermidor who won the Reputation Management Campaign of the Year award for the ISSA Thread campaign in yesterday’s UK Public Sector Communications Awards.
The ISSA thread campaign was factual, humorous and spread the message far and wide that we need more black donors to donate blood.
From the first tweet which garnered over 22K likes and over 13K retweets, the thread was successful from NHSBT’s perspective and taught thousands of people and often misunderstood truth about blood donation: black people are ten times more likely than white people to have the rare RO sub-blood type. RO blood is crucial in the management of sickle cell disease so awareness of the importance of donation could truly impact lives.
Congratulations again to Stephen and Melissa for their fantastic work.
